Stardate:2406.11.25 (USS Nimitz - Brig - ATAC -ENSjg. Wolfgaard - 0920) Seamus sat at his position, monitoring security communications, and all reporting personnel noted nothing to pique his attention. Much had been afoot lately, that much he had gleaned from the comms and the banter in Ten Forward. Seeing as he wasn't in the "thick" of things, the excitement was fleeting. So much had changed for him since he left home. His mind recalled his time at the academy: ~Tough, demanding, sometimes downright excruciating, but worth it.~ Seamus was taken aback about how he, after a short time in the fleet, ended up aboard the Nimitz. ~The Boudicca was a good ship, with a good commander. I didn't get to know too many people that well, but, sometimes that happens. And of course, let's not forget Starbase Geneva. After I was reassigned, I missed the open expanses. For a purpose, apparently. My side training in tactics and security concepts seems to have panned out, albeit not in the most glorious of shipboard postings, but a good posting nonetheless.~ =/= Lt. Tagon to Ensign Seamus Wolfgaard, report to the bridge for tactical duty. =\= Seamus popped from his brief reminiscing as he realized he was being ordered to the bridge. "Aye, Sir. On my way," he replied as he got to his feet. He turned to his fellow ensign, "I need you take over for me." The ensign nodded in compliance as Seamus grabbed his PADD from the console and headed for the turbolift. (USS Nimitz - Bridge - ATAC -ENSjg. Wolfgaard - 0926) The doors of the turbolift opened onto a bridge bustling with activity. Seamus looked around trying to locate Lt. Tagon. ~I've heard enough about his species so he shouldn't be too hard to spot.~ he thought to himself. ~Ah.There he is. I have never in my life met, or come across, a Brikkarian.~ Seamus moved across the bridge deck and stopped within a few paces of Lt. Tagon. "Ensign Junior Grade Seamus Wolfgaard reporting as ordered, Sir," he stated. ~So this is what a Brikkarian looks like. All the scuttlebutt does nothing to prepare one for such an encounter.~ Seamus stood at attention awaiting his response, knowing absolutely nothing about how to respond if this "rock" expected some sort of social reciprocation. (reply Tagon, any) (Posted by Chris Brinkman) Stardate:2406.11.25 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - SFI/SO -Lt. Dru Tagon - 0926) Tagon could see the human coming out of the turbolift from the corner of his eye. By the descrption from his personell file, it must have been Ensign Wolfgaard. He made his way over to Tagon and looked up at him. Tagon always thought it strange that people seemed so in awe of his presence. "Ensign Junior Grade Seamus Wolfgaard reporting as ordered, sir," he stated. Tagon nodded, that is, his body moved forwards and back in the approximation of a nod. "While Chief Casely is otherwise indisposed you are to take the tactical station. Keep an eye on the sensors for anything that looks out of the ordinary." (reply Wolfgaard) Tagon didn't bother to reply. He moved down to the command post and stood, looking out the view screen. he didn't think the captain would appreciate the added stress to his seat if the Brikar had sat in it. She seemed to be caught of guard but recovered well. Maddie stood up and looked a little nervous. "Ummm... thanks. I... ummm... well, I have been working on where Captain Sevant may have been going before his disappearance. He recieved a message shortly before hand which was self erased. Then through a search of our computer system it is my contention that Captain Sevant recieve a message from . I hypothesise that he was going to meet with him. The problem is, there are no records of his current location. I'm not even sure if the man's still alive." She paused for a moment. "I was wondering if I could borrow your counselor, and perhaps with our own counselor, we'd be able to at least create a profile of this man and where he might be now. Also whose side he might be on." "That sounds like an excellent idea," Sash replied. "Perhaps your counselor could join us over here." (reply West) "I'll make the arrangements," Sash replied. "Counselor, your job is to work with Dr. Munroe and get that profile. I'll want it as soon as possible." Harrison nodded. "Yes, sir," he said. There wasn't anything else to say. He had already displayed his enthusiasm during the meeting. The meeting drew to a close, with Harrison having little to nothing he wanted to contribute. The officers began to file out to their respective duties, and Harrison approached Dr Munroe. "Doctor," he began, trying to hide his confusion as to whether a science officer should be referred to as "doctor" or "ma'am", "I already compiled a preliminary profile of Captain Sevant..." NRPG: Did i read that right? Are we doing a profile of Sevant? RPG: "...earlier on, mainly from his starfleet record. Perhaps you can offer your opinion, having worked with him and knowing him better than i do." (reply Munroe) "Also, would it be possible to see the results of your search for the message he recieved," he asked politely, before hastily recovering with,"Not that I doubt your search or your abilities, but I just wouldn't mind a look for myself." Ellen called up the specs on the computor and turned it to face mor'rel "Thank you Doctor," said Mor'rel as they continued to work. Everyone was working as fast as they can. It just didn't make the waiting any easier. Finally the Boudicca signaled that they were ready. The ship disappeared in a shimmer of its cloaking device. Larry asked as it had been slow even before his shift started. "Oh something to do with that ship next to us." George replied as he added more food to some of the items that actually were a bit low. Some items had been there all day and had to be replaced by fresh items. "What you mean, 'that ship next to us', what ship?" Larry asked as he stopped to look over at George, "and how do you know about ships?" "Yeah, the small amount of crew that has entered today, that is all that they talk about. How the Nimitz and them are doing some kind of mission." George replied, "that is why the bridge crew has not been here today." "You mean the bridge crew had not been here? How long have they been on duty?" Larry asked. "I think they have been on duty since around 0100 this morning." George replied after he thought for a minute. Larry started thinking, the bridge crew had been on duty that long and had not been in for even a snack. They had to be getting a bit hungry or even a bit thirsty. "Hey George, go get that mobile serving cart." Larry ordered, he had an idea to help the crew out. "Why do you want that thing for?" George asked, curious as to what Larry was up to, but, he started to go. "I have an idea." Was all that Larry said as George was leaving to retrieve the cart. While George was gone Larry started to gather things up that could be considered finger food and different types of beverages. When George returned with the cart he understood. (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Mess Hall attendant - Crew man George - 1235) The doors to the turbo lift opened up and Larry pushed the cart out onto the bridge. It made a bit of noise as the things on it rattled when he pushed it over the threshold of the turbo lift doors. "Howdy! Since you people don't want to come to us, I figured that we would come to you." Larry said with a big smile, "Now who wants what? Come on don' t be shy." He finished as he looked at everyone on the bridge, which, btw was looking at him. It seemed that they could not believe that Larry had actually brought a food cart onto the bridge. "Yo Captain, how about you? Want some Rakjinko, maybe some apple pie?" Larry figured that maybe if the captain took something then everyone else would. He flet as if he'd been enclosed in his coffin. "Martini shakers of death", what a most adequate name. There was the sudden rush and Bubbal braced himself. After the initial launch the torpedo shell vibrated cruelly. He thought that he could feel some of his teeth shake loose. His helmet covered head banged against the wall several times. He continually monitored his suits internal sensors to the check on it's status. It seemed that they had been moving for an eternity, although his helmet chronometer showed only 23 seconds. The shaking stopped, and Bubba knew that they had arrived at their destination. He hit the escape button and the torpedo opened to let him out into the vacuum of space. Johnson loved the experience of floating in space. It was the greatest sense of freedom he had ever had. However this was not the time for enjoyment and he quickly pulled himself into focus. =^=Casely out and awaiting orders.=^= =/=Just stay in the background for just now. Remeber, you're the back up if I need it.=\= Then he turned to find the Drizzt and the other marines. He located the probe and began his slow acceleration towards it. =/= I'm approaching the probe now, LT. As soon as I make contact I'll begin the uplink work, and then move onto the imager.=\= (reply Drizzt) Johnson made the adjustments to his EVA suit and made his way to the probe. As hie approached he reversed the thrusters and stopped, perfectly within reach of the probes workings. He was amazed at how simple the security of such an important piece of equipment was. There seemed to be no extreme proximity sensors. Obviously nobody expected anyone to be shot out a torpedo tube from a cloaked vessel, in order to mess with the workings of the probe. ~Foolish mortals.~ It didn't take him long to remove the panel that covered the controls he was looking for. First snag. The panel was wired. He wasn't sure to what, but perhaps the manufacturors weren't as remiss as he first thought. They must have been trying to lull him into a false sense of security, so that he would make a stupid error. If it were wired to blow then at least he would have been spared the wrath of Drizzt. Fortunately, he was not stupid, nor impatient. It took a few moments to bypass the boobytrap, and completely remove the panel. He clapped his hands together and rubbed them, getting himself mentally prepared for the task ahead. It was strange, seeing his hands come together, yet there being no clap. The joys of the vacuum of space. He blinked once to clear his eyesight then began the real work. The first order of business was to attach the tracer to the transmission relay, so that the Nimitz team could find where the the sgnal was being sent. He had done it in the simulator so many times over the last couple of hours that he could find it with his eyes closed. He kept them open anyway, just in case. It was a tight squeeze with his suit on. These pieces were never built to be worked on in this way, while in space. Usually they would get brought in so that people could work on them in the relative comfort of an atmosphere, and no envionmental enhancing gloves. But the special design of his suit, allowed him a little more dexterity. He finished and tapped the transmitter. A red light came on indicating that it was functioning. Bubba could feel the sweat on his brow and leaned back, making an adjustment in his environmental controls. =/= Phase one complete, LT. The transmitter is functioning. You can contact the Nimtz now, Ensgin Casely. Tell them to start tracing the signal.=\= (reply Drizzt, Casely) With a deep breath, Bubba leaned back in and began phase two. This was the part he loved. He had created a small program that not only hid the Nimitz and Boudicca from the probe, but also told it that they were heading in absolutely the wrong direction. This would give them, or at least the Boudicca, a little more play time. Nimitz would be in a little worse shape, as that old Sovereign class had no cloak capabilities. What could he say, Boudicca was just a far superior warship. He took out an isolinear chip and found the right slot. with a quick move he pulled out the existing chip and replaced it. the whole process took about three tenths of a second. Hopefully it would not be noticed until someone decided to to a level two diagnostic. And via remote, that would take some time. He checked the internal sensors of the prbe to see that it was recording the image of the ships warping out of the area. With a smile he pushed away from the probe, his mission complete. =/= Mission complete. We...=\= he didn't finish his sentance. His suits sensors beeped and somthing came up on the face plate screen. A weapons lock had been identified. ~Weapons lock?~ Then he realized that he had made a mistake. he hadn't rechecked for booby traps. It normally wouldn't be a big thing, but now he could see the laser arm swinging round on him. "Damn it!" he chastised himself. =/= Lt, Drizzt watch out for the ... =\= The laser fired and put a hole through the marines suit. He could feel the sudden chage of air pressure as his environment began to vent into space with a trail of blood as the weapon had gone through his body aswell. He already knew that it was only a matter of time before the pressure of his escaping air would cause his body to explode. "Crap!" "We seem to have a situation here. Someone disable that gun and complete this mission. I'm going for the marine," said Paul as he started his accelerators to move towards the marine. "Damn it!" he chastised himself for not taking this possibility into consideration when he was running the simulations. ~Hopefully Mr. Big Guns shoots this thing before it shoots me,~ Paul thought grimly as he reached the downed marine. He looked at the hole in the environmental suit and tried putting his hand over it to stop the airflow. It appeared to slow the flow, but not enough... Paul grabbed the tool kit they all carried and pulled out one of the welding instruments and began to roughly seal the opening in the suit from the outside. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't overly safe, but it was better than a gaping hole. "Marine, you ok in there? Just hold on," said Paul, "You're going to be ok." (Reply Bubba) Just then, Paul noticed the large gun starting to rotate and fix itself on the pair. "Skylnyx, someone? You'd better do something fast or you're going to be picking up pieces of both of us," Paul said as he began fiddling in vain, marine in one arm hand working sensor pad with the other inside the suit in a vain attempt to shut down the autodefense controls on the probe. You're going to be ok.=^= This guy obviously had a different meaning of ok, than Bubba did. He tried to reply at first but his mind went blank. When he opened his eyes he was back on the farm. It was Sunday morning, and he was, as usual, diligently tossing bails of hay into the barn. He could see his father and mother, dressed up and ready for church. They were waving tohim to come along. "I don't think I'm going to church today Papa," he said. I want to get this all done before I leave." There was a flash of light, and he was in the house. It was dark outside now. His father was standing near him, his face red and sweaty from arguing. "We need you here boy, and that's the bottom line." "It's too late Papa," Babba replied, trying to be calmand reasonable. "I have to go, and I have to go now. If I don't then I'll die long beore my time." "Like your life'll be safe as a Starfleet marine," he said loudly. "Don't you even care about your family? Mark my words boy, you'll die an early death with them." "Papa, it's not about you guys any more. Yes I care. that's why I have to go, or I'll wind up resenting the people I love most." He turned to head for the door. His father grabbed him and tried to pull him back. Bubba easily removed himself from his fathers untrained grasp and opened the door. "I'm sorry Papa, Mama, but I have to go now. Good-bye." With another blinding flash he found himself looking at the night sky again. This time it was different, like it was all a lot closer. He remembered being in space, working on the probe, and the laser discharge into his suit. His saw a different face, not his Ppa's but another man, who looked equally concerned. He smiled. ~Looks like Papa was right after all.~ His eyes began to roll into the back of his head as he felt a tingling sensation over his entire body. It had always amazed Holis how waiting seeemed to send a person into a mental anomalous time differential event where everything slowed to a crawl as every sense heightened. Here he was waiting, waiting and waiting some more. The program for tracing the probes signal was already in place and ready to be activated, all they needed was the linkup to the probe and he would be hard at work. He was watching the viewscreen closely though there really wasn't anything to see but his eyes wanted something to do as he listened to the men talking as they got into position, he could feel the captain and everyone else on the bridge were having no easier time than he was, Sash first paced then stopped and began studying the floor in fron of the command chair, Holis shook his head in amusement and turned back to his console; perhaps he could tweak the program a bit. "Captain the probe has a targeting lock and is preparing to fire again!" Sash's actions were immediate. "Ensign, get a transporter lock on those two. Transport them directly to sick bay." Holis heard him get up out of his chair and suddenly he was standing over the Betazoid scientist's shoulder. "Any luck?" Holis nodded and switched back to the trace program, his fingers tickled the keys quickly as he brought up a starmap on a secondary screen, the triangulation of the signals destination was nearly complete. Then... success, the trace program did its work and the vector of the signal was displayed on the starmap; its endpoint terminated at a planet. Holis switched the trace program to backup status and brought long range sensors to the main screen and began taking readings as he turned with a smile to Sash. "As you can see we've got it Captain." He turned his eyes back to the sensors and began calling out the readings. " The signal is being sent to Beta Kanobis 5, the planet is class M. Diameter of 11,832 kilometers and approximate age of 8 billion years.Surface is 73% water and I am receiving energy readings and communications from the surface." "Nurse, get that suit off of him, I need to see how bad it is." She said, swinging the top of the diagnostic bed over him as the nurse manipulated the transporter into getting ht suit off. "Massive internal bleeding and organ injuries." She turned back around to the assistant doctor. "Prep him for surgery in suite 1." She said, tapping her comm badge. "Captain, I need to take this Marine into emergency surgery. I know that you need Mr. Kinkaid, but I need him to run sickbay while I'm in surgery," At the same time she pumped the marine full of antibiotics, painkillers and sleepy medicine, as well as adrenaline to keep him alive. "Get a heart monitor on him, and hook him up to life support." She ordered, keeping a watch on his life signs. She quickly dressed in surgical gear, pulling the cap on over her snood which held all her hair and sterilizing her hands both before and after she had donned the gloves. She stepped into the airlock between sickbay and the suite and was decontaminated and sterilized again. She strode in with purpose and got to work. (reply anyone in sickbay who wants to play) (posted by melinda :-) Stardate:2406.11.25 (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - CMO - Ensign {SG} Mor'rel - 1329) Mor'rel was sitting at his desk waiting for information on the mission. If things went badly, logic dictated that there would be a need for medical personnel. He sat ready... waiting with his staff on standby just in case. Then, the call came in. =^=Sir, a marine is down. Nimitz has him right now. We're getting reports of extensive internal injury.=^= "Who is the attending physician on the Nimitz?" asked Mor'rel. =^=That would be Dr. Michaella Kirien at the moment.=^= "Thank you," stated Mor'rel stiffly before he cut the channel. Without so much as a second thought, Mor'rel brought up the file on Dr. Michaella Kirien. She would be more than capable in terms of taking care of this marine, but still the marine was the Boudicca's ultimate responsibility and Mor'rel knew that the Nimitz had sustained more casualties in the probe explosion than the Boudicca had. With that, Mor'rel opened a channel to the Nimitz sickbay using the signals they had been told to utilize as he still didn't know if they were under regulations or not for coded messages. "Medical staff of the USS Nimitz... Dr. Michaella Kirien... This is the Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Mor'rel, on the USS Boudicca. I am asking as to your current situation and wondering if you could use the hands of myself and the Assistant Chief Medical Officer," stated Mor'rel. (Reply Dr. Michaella Kirien) "I understand... we will prepare to join you momentarily," said Mor'rel, "Please clear our arrival with your Captain." (Reply Dr. Michaella Kirien) With the communication then cut, Mor'rel tapped his comm badge, "Doctor Mor'rel to Doctor Farley... we have a medical emergency with regards to one of our marines aboard the Nimitz. We are transporting over to help the attending physician. Please have anything you need ready and meet me in transporter room 2 on deck 14." (Reply Ellen) Mor'rel then cut the communication and tapped his comm badge again. "Doctor Mor'rel to Lieutenant Commander West. We have been apprised of the situation regarding our marine currently being treated on the Nimitz and Doctor Ellen Farley and myself are going to aid Dr. Kirien. Their medical staff has been somewhat busy after the probe blast. Doctor Natalie Farley will have sickbay until we return. She is currently on the bridge." (reply West) "Yes Sir, understood," stated Mor'rel before the channel was cut. He tapped his comm badge a third and final time, "Doctor Mor'rel to Doctor Natalie Farley, you are in charge of sickbay until the return of myself and Ellen from the Nimitz." (Reply Natalie) With that Mor'rel gathered a few instruments and items and walked out of sickbay towards the tubolift. (USS Boudicca - Deck 14, Transporter Room 2 - CMO - Ensign {SG} Mor'rel - 1332) Mor'rel walked in and nodded at Ellen. "Are you ready Doctor?" Mor'rel asked as he walked on to the transporter pad. (reply Ellen) Mor'rel nodded and said loudly, "Energize." In a flash, they were gone. (USS Nimitz - Sickbay - CMO - Ensign {SG} Mor'rel - 1337) Mor'rel walked swiftly down the corridors of the Nimitz. He had spent some time in transit on this vessel afterall. Presently he found himself entering sickbay with Ellen in tow. Mor'rel walked in to see an Ensign being examined by medical staff, he looked dirty but otherwise none the worse for wear. Mor'rel identified himself and then asked the location of the marine from the Boudicca. He then proceeded to suit up and go through decontamination/sterilization procedures. He was followed by Ellen. "Have you been involved in major surgery before Ellen?" asked Mor'rel while they were waiting. (Reply Ellen) "I see, well every surgery is different. There is always something to learn, and always something to be useful in doing. Just make sure you ask Dr. Kirien before you dive into something. She is the attending surgeon," stated Mor'rel. (reply Ellen) With that the pair walked into the sterile room and saw the marine lying on the table. Mor'rel cocked an eyebrow and stated to Dr. Kirien, "I am Doctor Mor'rel, this is Doctor Farley from the Boudicca. How can we be of service to you?" "The signal is being sent to Beta Kanobis 5, the planet is class M. Diameter of 11,832 kilometers and approximate age of 8 billion years.Surface is 73% water and I am receiving energy readings and communications from the surface." Sash nodded, looking at the results of the probes relay. "I'm looking at these readings." He pointed to the screen. Holis focused on the energy readings. "Energy readings and elements in the atmosphere indicate an advanced civilization on the planet though it appears to be relatively small, perhaps a base or young colony." "A base, on a remote planet," Sash mused to himself. "That certainly does seem to be just what the doctor ordered. Is there anything else?" "I'll be able to get more information when we enter the system Captain, that's the best I can give you right now." Sash was thinking when a report came in from sickbay. =^=Captain, I need to take this Marine into emergency surgery. I know that you need Mr. Kinkaid, but I need him to run sickbay while I'm in surgery.=^= Sash looked over at the doctor and nodded him off. "He's on his way doctor. good luck." A moment later it was Casely that interrupted his thoughts. =^=Ensign Casely to Bridge. Was the mission a success?=^= "Yes, Ensign, very successful," Sash told him. =^=Ummm... can someone please get me out of here. I really am fine, I just want to get back to work.=^= Sash swasn't sure if Casely were actually talking to him or if he just neglected to sign off. "Well Ensign," Sash replied , "there's not much I can do about that. I'm afraid that I'm outranked in sickbay. However, if anyone can hear me down there, I could use my security chief. As long as he's through going to sickbay. He's been there enough today to warrant a transfer of duties." (reply any, Casely) Sash turned his attention back to the screen. "At warp 7, it would take us about, what..., two and half days to get there. We could make it in less than two at warp 8, but we wouldn't be 100 percent. I have a plan starting to formulate in my head, but we'll need to be at full capabilities." He turned to Carter, or Xavier, or whatever the heck his name was now. "Mr. Xacier, set course for Beta Kanobis 5, warp 7. Wait for my mark, when I return." Xavier ran his hands over the controls. "Course a speed laid in captain. Just give me the word." He turned to K'ven. "Lt. Commander, please inform the Boudicca that I wish to meet with Commander West when they are back in position and out of cloak. Then prepare the ship for departure. Once underway, there will be a staff meeting. They won't like what I'm about to tell them." (reply K'ven) The turbolift doors opened as Casely must have managed to escape the clutches of the medical teams in sickbay. He went over to the tactical station and had words with his ATAC, and then reported in to Sash. "Captain Sash," he said, "I have returned to bridge duty and am currently in control of my station." "Excellent," Sash replied, "just in time. Do you think you can manage to stay out of sickbay for a while. I'm thinking of having a biobed with your name put on it." He smiled and winked at his Security Chief. (reply Casely) "I'll be going over to Boudicca to meet with Commander West. When I get back I want this ship ready to move and ready for battle. Got it." (reply Casely) "Very well then, you have the con K'ven." As he headed to the turbo lift he noticed the tray of food. He picked up a couple of the sandwiches that the galley crewmen had left per his instructions. He didn't ralize how hungry he was. "Oh yum, tuna salad." The turbo lift door closed. "I'll be going over to Boudicca to meet with Commander West. When I get back I want this ship ready to move and ready for battle. Got it." "Yes Sir. We will be ready," stated Paul as he set to work making preparations. "Very well then, you have the con K'ven." With that, the Captain walked to the turbolift grabbing a sandwich along the way. Suddenly, Paul felt very hungry... he could hear his stomach growling and was sure everyone else could too. He looked to the galleymen... and slowly walked from his station to them... "Say... do you have an roast beef and maybe a coffee?" he said with a grin. Taking his food he went back to his station and started to work... he hadn't eaten since... yesterday. Paul started to call up information on the planet they were headed to and started to look at the services on board. He looked over at his ATAC. "Mr. Wolfgaard, could you make sure that our torpedoes are functional and that our phaser rifles are charged? You might want to inventory them as well. I also need you to give me a list of available personnel for security teams. Knock off anyone who is injured or otherwise out of commission and ask the people in security to log in their hours so I know how long some of them have been working. If they're fatigued they'll need to rest before we get there," stated Paul. (Reply Wolfgaard) Paul nodded. He knew what it was like being the new guy on the block better than anyone... in fact, in many ways he still was, but there was work to be done and as usual they were racing against the clock. "Ensign Bixx, how are our energy reserves? Do we have those glitches fixed? I might need a lot of power for shields and weapons soon. Can we run a diagnostic on phasers and shields please?" stated Paul. "Yes Sir," responded Dartena as she began to work the controls. She would do her best to ensure that the ship was ready should the need arise. "Lieutenant Commander K'ven, any orders or needs Sir?" asked Paul as he worked to ensure the ship was battle ready. Trevan cocked an eyebrow," Confident you say, where is he located? Anywhere nearby?" "It's a small planet in the Tarnau Maris sector. It would be perfect for a small base of operations." "I agree," replied Trevan He pulled out his PADD and tied it into the Boudicca's computer, then uploaded the information he had on it. "Computer display start chart just down loaded." The screen in the conference room lit up and showed the sector of space. "This is the planet right here. I figure this here," he pointed to dots on the screen, "here and here are sensor posts. We're still compiling data, so I can't even hazard a guess as to thenumbers we're looking at, either on base personnel, or starships in the vicinity." "Well we will know closer to arrival time. The boudiccas' sensors will be maxed out during this one. However, we will be cautious." He sat back. "This is what I'm proposing. It's obvious that the Boudicca is better suited to get closer than the Nimitz. Your ship should be in charge of the extraction of Captain Sevant. Although I do have some crewmen that I would like to be involved in that, I will leave that part to you and yours. Lt Tagon is vastly experience in SAR missions, so he will be joining you. I might also have a few other hands over. We can do this as an exchange, if there is someone that you think would help me out." "Agreed, have a look at my crew roster and let me know with whom you would like to have. I am sure you can find someone." Replied West "Well, our job will be a little less complicated," he smiled. "We are the distraction. Nimitz will make a decoy run through the sector, to draw the attention of unsuspecting starships. Hopefully we will be a good enough decoy to get anything that's moving to come to us. This should leave Boudicca free to come in under cloak and put down a team on the planet, find Captain Sevant and get him out of there." Sash paused for a moment to let it sink in. "It's going to be touch and go from both ships point of view, but Nimitz's sheer survival really will depend on the speed of your team to complete their mission. I need to be sure that your crew is up for such a mission." Trevan sat up in his chair, "Our crew is the best in the fleet sir. No offence," Trevan smiled but only slightly, "we can take on anything they throw at us. Sir." "The trip to Beta Kanobis 5 should take about two and half days at warp 7. We might be able to kick that up a bit if Zzt and his crew can do something with the engines. But I want to be sure that Nimitz arrives at Kanobis in 100% condition. With that much time we can make final plans en route." "I think everything is in order. We will prepare our end here." replied TRevan again. "Very well then," Sash stood up. "The coordinates are already in your computer. We'll engage at warp 7 in five minutes from now. Let's conference again tomorrow morning at say 1000 hours. Paul, after his spacewalk, was feeling tired... and edgy. He couldn't help but think about the marine who was laying in sickbay... he kept waiting for some word on the man. ~Was I quick enough? What could I have done differently that would have been better for him?" Paul felt questions float through his head about the event. It could have been... could still be... a tragedy. Yet, the aim was still accomplished in the end... they were tracing the signal to find Sevant. Paul couldn't help but wonder if it was worth it... both the Nimitz and the Boudicca had lost crew members on this mission... were the needs of one man worth the casualties that were being racked up? Paul shook those thoughts away, ~We're Starfleet, we don't leave people behind otherwise I wouldn't have gone back for that marine. We all know the risks.~ With that thought behind him, Paul fixed his sight on the Captain, who was getting ready to speak. After what he was sure were a few minutes, but what felt like hours, his tube began to move, slowly at first, it picked up speed rapidly. The sensation was surreal, especially because he couldn't see where he was going. He was putting his faith in an unknown marine and technology. The concept was more than frightening, it was terrifying. Eventually, Paul could feel the guides of the tubes disappear as his tube began a free-fall into space. =/=Ensign, are you still with us?=\= "Yes, I'm fine," came Paul's reply despite the fact he was feeling more than a bit queasy. He knew it would pass, at least he hoped it would, expelling within an environmental suit wouldn't be good. He'd have to live and work within his own keck, something that would be unpleasant for sure. Paul heard intermittent chatter on the suit radios, most pretty routine stuff. Finally, he felt the thrusters fire and his lunch returned firmly to his stomach. ~At least someone is in control of these things,~he thought. In time, the tubes began to slow, gradually at first and then to a slow drift. Paul knew it would only be a matter of time at this point before they'd have to exit and be on their way. He checked for his tool pouch. Every member of the mission team had been outfitted with one of these, just in case one was lost, they'd have others to work with. The top of his tube began to slide open. =/=Exit tubes, repeat, exit tubes=\= Was that the Andorian back on the Boudicca or one of the marines here? Paul couldn't place the voice, but he really wasn't concentrating on it at the moment either. He pushed himself forward from the tube and began to float, free in space. He saw 4 other figures doing exactly the same thing. Three marines, and that Lieutenant Skylynx fellow from the Boudicca. Hanging in space, the whole thing seemed surreal. He could see the flashing 'dangerous' nebula in the distance, beautiful in its destructive power. He could also see the two Federation devices... and they were definitely Federation devices, hanging in space. "Casely out and awaiting orders," stated Paul and he waited. The group included Lt. Tagon from the Nimitz, whose presence Stolev surmised was an indication of another impending rescue plan discussion. ~Good, at least there's actually a meeting this time.~ "Ok crew, here is the plan of action," began West as Stolev took his seat beside Ryko. "The Nimitz is already underway to a small planet in the Tarnau Maris sector and will be there in 2 days time traveling at Warp 7. We will be behind them by a bit. They will swoop in and be the decoy hoping to draw out any ships in the area, then, the Boudicca will come in under cloak, scan the planet and retrieve the captain in the shortest amount of time. I want preparations made from all departments for a plan of attack." Sasha caught Stratton's eye and nodded, knowing that he and the marines already had a significant head start in this direction. "Engineering, I need full shields and weapons ready to go with no failures," continued West as he sat down. "All non-essential systems will be shut off-line and diverted to the cloak and weapon systems." West then looked over at the CMO. "Dr, you will be prepared for any type of injury sustained by the crew and the Captain will be beamed directly to Sickbay upon his retrieval." "Everyone else, especially security and the MCO's. I want a full up simulation in Holodeck 2 running shortly and I will come and see your progress. I want minimal fatalities on this mission people. None, would be preferable." West then indicated Lt. Tagon. "I would like to introduce our temporary crew transfer, Lt Tagon. His specialty is Search and Rescue. Lt, you will join the security team and help out please. "The marines have already been running rescue simulations on the marine holodeck," reported Stratton matter-of factly. "I will modify the simulations accordingly with this new information. Any news on CE Johnson's condition? As if on cue, the comm system sounded. =^= Doctor Mor'rel to Major Straton. Please be informed that CE Johnson is alive. He sustained damage to his liver by the energy beam, which has been repaired and some damage to the brain due to oxygen deprivation, which Dr. Kiren is repairing at the moment, but he will survive,=^= stated Mor'rel evenly. (reply Stratton) =^= I will make arrangements that he be moved back to the Boudicca as soon as he is stable enough. Until then, he will remain onboard the Nimitz. Mor'rel out, =^= said Mor'rel as he closed the channel. (reply any) As the meeting broke, Stolev approached Stratton. "Major," he began, "if you don't mind, I'd like to start incorporating some security personnel into the simulations, as we discussed earlier. That way we'll know how our personnel can best support each other without getting in each other's way." With her hands interlaced before her on the table, Eva took in the new information and digested it seeing what changes would need to be made in the simulations she had the marines already running on the 'hell' deck. I am attempting to stem the bloodflow and repair it. Doctor Farley, may I have some suction here please?" said Mor'rel as he began working on that area of the liver. "Here you go" Ellen said as she held the sucktion tube to the place that the doctor asked "There is significant damage to the inferior vena cava. This must also be fixed. Please hand my a tissue fuser," requested Mor'rel as he began to work on the area just above the left hepatic vein. Mor'rel moved out of the way to allow for suction on the affected area. "There appears to be a small hole through the interior and exterior wall of the caudate lobe. Doctor Farley, could you please affix a tissue generator on that spot? I'm going to clean the area around it to ensure that it takes hold. I believe we should be able to fix it," stated Mor'rel. "You got it doc," she got the generator and took it to the marine and began to fix it to the damageed spot Mor'rel worked on his section and Farley on hers. They seemed to be making headway and the tissue seemed to be sealing nicely. Eventually the gap was closed and the liver appeared to be functional again. "Good work Doctor Farley, we seem to have been successful in our task. Please close the main incision," he stated dispassionately. Ellen began to close the main incision "Im on it doc" "It would seem you have been most effective as well Doctor Kiren," stated Mor'rel. (Reply Kiren, iyw) "Doctor Mor'rel to Major Straton. (Reply Mor'rel, Kiren, Straton) (Posted by kurt) Stardate:2406.11.25 (USS Nimitz - Sickbay - CMO - Doctor Ensign {SG} Mor'rel - 1448) The marine was badly injured, that was for sure. Now they had started working in concert, as a surgical team should. Dr. Michaella Kirien had shown herself to be a skilled surgeon and Mor'rel often had difficulty keeping up, but he had been able to prove some usefulness. "Doctor Kirien, there seems to be a laceration on the left hepatic vein of the liver. I am attempting to stem the bloodflow and repair it. Doctor Farley, may I have some suction here please?" said Mor'rel as he began working on that area of the liver. The heat source used in space had stemmed the bloodflow, prolonging the life of the marine but had not repaired the internal damage. (Reply Kirien iyw, Farley) "There is significant damage to the inferior vena cava. This must also be fixed. Please hand my a tissue fuser," requested Mor'rel as he began to work on the area just above the left hepatic vein. Sealing these two areas would stop the bleeding, then it was time to complete work on the liver. Mor'rel moved out of the way to allow for suction on the affected area. He knew that while he was working on this section of the marine, Dr. Kirien was working on the area most effected by the time of oxygen deprivation... the brain. When Mor'rel saw the area he was working on with blood cleared away he raised an eyebrow, it truly was a wonder this man was still alive. "There appears to be a small hole through the interior and exterior wall of the caudate lobe. Doctor Farley, could you please affix a tissue generator on that spot? "Good work Doctor Farley, we seem to have been successful in our task. Please close the main incision," he stated dispassionately. He looked and watched as the vital signs began to stablize on the patient. (Reply Farley) Mor'rel was about to ask Doctor Kiren how she was proceeding when he saw brain activity normalize. She had evidently been successful in her task as well. "It would seem you have been most effective as well Doctor Kiren," stated Mor'rel. (Reply Kiren, iyw) With that, Mor'rel walked away from the marine and tapped his communicator badge. No sense making the marines onboard the Boudicca wait any longer. "Doctor Mor'rel to Major Straton. Please be informed that CE Johnson is alive. She stopped a short distance away and waited respectfully. "Ms. Enaj, Do you have a few minutes to spare?" (Reply Saim) "Great," John replied as he gestured for one of the ensigns to fill in for him for a few minutes. John led the way to the observation lounge and grabbed a seat. "Saim, I'm sorry to have dumped the shuttle off on you but with things the way they are I have been a little tied up on the bridge, that and for part of the day, sickbay. I have been able to scan your reports but not able to read them entirely. If you have a minute could you give me a basic rundown on your findings?" (Reply Saim) "Thanks, grab a seat, nothing formal in here right now." (reply Saim) John thought for a moment after she had given him the breakdown. "Sounds like you have everything under control, Is there anything I can do for you to help out?" (Reply Saim) (posted by Kirk)
